what i'm wearing: Jane Norman sequin maxi // Just Fab clutch bag* // Topshop suede heels // Accessorize earrings

It's the second year now that I have been Liam's plus one to his works annual Christmas ball and I love it: it's really the only time of the year when I can wear a beautiful gown and get really dressed up. This year there was a James Bond theme to the evening so I wanted to find a dress that will suit and I already had an image in my mind of what I wanted - after so many dresses, I finally stumbled upon this Jane Norman number from House of Fraser. I absolutely fell in love, although with a dress like this there is always a slight chance that it might look tacky, especially if you only see it online so it was a little bit of a gamble.
When the dress arrived, it was too small. I ordered a size 8 following the HOF size guidelines, however when I received the dress it was actually measuring at a size 6 which I am NEVER going to fit into - so if you are thinking about buying this dress, I would suggest going up a size. I actually went for a size 12 in the end because the 8 measured so tiny that I didn't want to risk the size 10 being too tight and my thinking paid off as the size 12 fit perfectly.

The dress itself is absolutely stunning - it really accentuates your curves, or adds the illusion of curves if you have a more boyish figure - and it holds itself up extremely well: even after a whole night of dancing and jumping up and down to old school pop punk, it didn't budge once!
Styling the dress is so simple - less is more. With a statement dress like this, the last thing you want to do is take away the attention, or make yourself look like a Christmas tree by adding lots of jewellery. Opt for classic earrings, and/or a cocktail ring for jewellery and simple style shoes - I went for black to match my coat and my clutch bag. Et voila!

Don't forget to add some red lipstick for old school red carpet glamour and enjoy the party, Cinderella!
