PrettyLittleThing.com is one of my favourite online fashion shops - I find their designs fun, flirty, sexy and elegant; and their sizing true to a woman's body shape. I connect with the brand aesthetic too - to me they're feminine and empowering, inviting all women to shine in their own right. Which is why when an email landed from the PLT team asking if I wanted to collaborate I was over the moon! We talked about a collaboration ahead of the racing season - which is an exciting time for anyone to get their glad rags out and have an excuse to dress up.
I've been to the Ascot before and really enjoyed myself - although I can 100% admit the next morning I suffered in bed until the evening (when there's prosecco flowing like a river, what's a girl to do??! Not go over the top is the answer). For me it was more the atmosphere - sunshine, a picnic packed with delicious treats and a couple of bottles of fizz, friends enjoying time together and catching up - and of course the fashion.
Dresses are the typical choice for a race day, but I LOVE this pink crepe bardot folded detail jumpsuit - it's a lovely and flattering fit, it's super comfy, and is perfect for an occasion where you want to look glam but dresses aren't your thing. This jumpsuit is a nice long length so heels are a must! For me, this jumpsuit calls for a couple of statement accessories like this seasons must have rectangle earrings - or if you're wearing your hair down then a statement necklace would be perfect with the jumpsuit. I decided to try a sleek pony and really loved this style - usually I avoid ponytails unless I'm exercising or cleaning and opt for my go-to loose waves, but I'd love to experiment more with hairstyles, especially for special occasions.
Because I traded in nights out for dinner parties and wine evenings at home with friends (OK I lie - I might go crazy and have a night out once or twice a year! Haha!) I quite like dressing up in something a little different from a baggy sweater and jeans which is my uniform on most Friday nights (anyone else?). It's nice to feel good and feel pretty - which is exactly how I felt in this white lace dress from PrettyLittleThing. I've had my eye on a lace dress for some time but couldn't find one that I liked - and here it was, absolutely perfect!
But first, let me take a selfie!
This white frill hem lace bodycon dress looks beautiful with the pink oversized coat - especially perfect for unpredictable spring weather when you may need a cover up! Paired with a fascinator and a sleek hairstyle, this outfit has an air of vintage glamour around it and is one of my favourite outfits I have created.
Also note the shoes which are pretty special - I spotted these rose gold clear ankle strap court shoes on PrettyLittleThing and fell in love with them! They look really glam, however I do have to point out that with any transparent shoe (especially if they don't have an open peep toe) you need to think about condensation especially on a hot day. I love these shoes, but they are definitely an option for events where I will be sitting down for most of the time!
My third and final outfit includes this dusty pink high neck tiered skater dress which is a fab option if you don't like adding lots of accessories or jewellery - this structured dress looks great on its own as well as with some earrings and a long necklace. It's a lovely length and to elongate legs you can wear this with nude (or transparent!) pointed toe heels. I opted to accessorise this dress with a statement watch and oversized stud earrings - I also made a messy bun but looking at the dress now I actually think this would look better with a sleek ponytail or a head of full messy curls! Oh well, hindsight is a great thing and next time I wear it I'll be sure to try a different hairstyle!
What do you think?
If you're going to the races, let me know in a comment below! Do you go every year or will this be your first time? Whilst you do that, I'm off to browse PLT for newness and try to resist temptation of purchasing...
