MUA Fur-Effect Nails in Fluffy Puff £2.
Ever since Ciate has brought out its velvet manicure, I have been waiting for a more affordable way to try this trend out. When I found out MUA will be bringing out nail fluff, I was over the moon because at their prices you can't really go wrong even if you don't get on with the product!
As with the Caviar Nails trend brought to us by Ciate and then repeated in a much more affordable variation by MUA's Nail Constellations (£3), this bargain fluff pot is just £2. As with most high end vs bargain items, I have no doubt that Ciate has outstanding quality and longer lasting results, but with trends I am unsure of I would rather try the bargain version to see if I even like the trend before splurging on a luxury product.
You can find the new nail fluff either on the MUA website or in most Superdrugs across the country. I picked mine up in store as it's easier and I didn't have to wait for the delivery. I then made sure my nails were clean, shaped and ready to be "fluffed" up. After applying the base coat, I chose Barry M's "Strawberry Ice Cream" nail paint to be my nail colour as it's very similar to the colour of Fluffy Puff. The idea of the application is that the nail fluff will stick to the nail polish, so it's always best to choose one of the same colour. Before applying the nail polish I took apart the pot, so the I had clear access to the nail fluff. I then applied the nail paint and rolled my nail in the fluff until it was fully covered. Wait 30 seconds before touching the nail, then gently squeeze down the fluff and wait another 30 seconds before brushing off the excess. Repeat until all of your nails are covered.
This is the first time I have tried this method so my nails turned out slightly lumpy so it's a good look if I'm going as a fluffy teddy bear to a dress up costume but they need to be much smoother if I'm planning on wearing them during a casual day! As with everything, practice makes perfect.
The nails are waterproof which is great as it was a concern of mine, one thing you have to watch out for is makeup. Apply foundation with a brush, as nails will get stained by some makeup and it's difficult to get it off.
For a bargain £2, I'm very happy with the purchase as it's a fun thing to do with your nails and I'm confident in a couple of go's I will be able to achieve a more "velvet" look rather than full on fluff! What did you think of MUA's Fur-Effect Nails? Will you be trying this trend out or is it too much?
It looks so strange haha! I really want to give it a go but I don't think I'll like the feel of it on my nails! xo
ReplyDeleteI saw these when I was in Superdrug yesterday and thought they looked so strange haha. It weirdly looks really good though! My only thing would be how it felt on my nails.. is it comfortable? xx

It really bugged me at first, it's not an uncomfortable feeling, you're just aware that it's different! But I'm used to them after wearing for a couple of hours. I still don't think they will be an every day choice for me though :)

Do they come in any other colours? X
ReplyDeleteYes, other than light pink they come in a purple blue, electric blue, electric pink and dark pink. You can find them here: http://www.muastore.co.uk/index.php/new

they look so weird and fluffy. gimme D:
ReplyDeleteThat looks so cool! Reminds me of candy floss haha
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that scares me about this is it looks a bit like cotton wool which I have a bit of a weird phobia of haha (I can't stand the texture or noise).
What's the texture like on your nails?

My friend has the same phobia of cotton wool :)
DeleteI'm not sure you'd like these much if you're not a fan of the texture, it feels like cotton wool when you first apply the fur, but once it's smoothed down it feels more like velvet.
Hope this helped :)

I like the idea of the product & I've seen the more expensive version on nails as well. But I don't think I would try this out, like you said maybe if I was going out as a fluffy teddy bear lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat review on the product thought.

ReplyDeleteSo cool! I would love to have that, but we don´t have anything like that in finland.... :(
ReplyDeleteI've just ordered these! I can't wait for them to arrive to try it out!
ReplyDeleteI bought this today, but it doesn't work at my nails.. It gives a messy look instead of fluffy :(
